WHAT IT MEANS: McNair Commits to Utah

On Saturday, the University of Utah received a commitment from Corona Centennial HS wide receiver Tavian McNair. The 6-foot-3 and 180 pounder visited Utah back on the June 8th weekend.

At the time, there were reports that he committed to Arizona State during the previous week and was set to announce not long after, but his Utah trip flipped the script.

McNair’s final four came down to Utah, Cal, Kansas, and UNLV. For McNair, player development and a strong family culture are important to him — something Utah has in spades.

What Utah is Getting

McNair is a big-bodied and sure-handed receiver that runs solid routes. He’s great at shielding the defender and adjusting to the ball. McNair runs a 4.5 40 and a 10.8 100.

Utah has been constantly looking to improve their receivers room the last few years, so the opportunity will be there for McNair to prove himself for early playing time. Before he arrives, Utes will be graduating Money Parks, Dorian Singer, Damien Alford, and Munir McClain.

The playmaker from Corona Centennial HS will come to Utah with a solid foundation for Utah receivers coach Alvis Whitted to build from.

What This Means for the Class

McNair is the fourteenth commitment for the 2025 class. He joins safety Manny (Shelton) Fuller, cornerback Jason Stokes Jr., offensive lineman Milz Asiata, linebacker Cyrus Polu, athlete JJ Buchanan, offensive lineman Soren Shinofield, linebacker/edge rusher Max Fonoimoana, tight end Drew Clemens, linebacker Christian Thatcher, defensive lineman Karson Kaufusi, defensive tackle Sione Motuapuaka, quarterback Wyatt Becker, as well as defensive end Nela Tupou in the 2025 class.

McNair is the second receiver in the class, as that’s the initial plan for Buchanan. Utah is viewed as a strong landing spot for Jerome Myles.
