Utes get commitment from local prospect

Pauli Latu, a 6-foot-1, 275-pound tackle from Hunter High in West Valley City, Utah has committed to playing for the Utes in 2006.
"They just have everything I need over there," Latu said when asked what attracted him to Utah. "They got a couple open spots that I can fight for."

Latu was recruited by coach Gary Anderson and specifically liked the personal attention he received. "I felt like I was someone they really wanted," said Latu when asked what helped him make his decision to commit to Utah. Other schools that have offered Latu scholarships are BYU and Utah State.
While up at the Utah football camp in June Latu made a big impression on the coaching staff and subsequently was offered a scholarship at the end of camp. "I think I tore it up," said Latu when asked to rate his performance at camp.
Pauli Latu said his goal for playing college football right now is "just to start." After a performance at camp that left him going home with a written offer, it's not hard to imagine that his chances for a starting spot are pretty good.
