Utes get commit from local TE prospect

For Mike Muehlmann, a TE from American Fork HS (American Fork, Utah), all it took was a call to coach Gary Anderson and with that he is now ready to play for the Utes.
Muehlmann was recently offered a scholarship by the Utes and after careful consideration he came to realization that Utah is where he wanted to be. "I love the coaching staff, said Muehlmann. I'm excited about the direction this program is heading. As you can see from last year all the success they've had," Muehlmann explained when asked what made the Utes his choice.

For Muehlmann, it was coach Anderson's style of being very up-front with him that made him feel like he was making the right choice. "He laid everything out very clearly, told me exactly what was going on. He just made everything simple."
Muehlmann is also familiar with coach Ludwig's style of offense and feels like he will be able to contribute right away. With Utah running some pro-style offensive sets these days the tight end position will be utilized a lot more in the future.
Having recently attended camps at Utah, BYU and Southern Utah Muehlmann had already been making some noise in his home state. With the Utes looking to ramp up the TE spot and having seen his hard work ethic and good hands it was an easy decision for the Utes coaching staff.
"I don't mind work," said Muehlmann when asked about what makes him a good football player. Once his senior season is over Muehlmann is planning on serving a 2-year mission for the LDS church where he will have plenty of hard work to look forward to.
Having grown up in Utah County and being surrounded by BYU fans Muehlmann is no stranger to the pressures of picking sides in the rivalry. In fact, Muehlmann is a life-long BYU fan and a season ticket holder. In the end however, Muehlmann's decision came down to his own personal spirituality and prayer. "It was prayer - I just kind of knew," said Muehlmann.
Mike Muehlmann has so far received offers from Utah and BYU.
