Runnin’ Utes Add JuCo Wing Bostyn Holt

The Runnin’ Utes have received a commitment for the upcoming season from versatile wing/forward Bostyn Holt.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, the 6-foot-7 and 193 pound sophomore averaged 9.6 points this past season for Coffeyville Community College while shooting 56.9% from the field and 43.5% from three-point range. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steals per game.

A matchup nightmare with his size and athleticism, Utah beat out Arizona State, Maryland and Iona with other schools jumping in late. His main recruiter was Utah assistant DeMarlo Slocum.

In recent weeks, new Utah head coach Craig Smith had two pressing needs to address: a slasher and a bruising big man. Holt fills the needed role of a slasher that can help open things up on the perimeter.

There’s also suddenly the need of another point guard with the recent transfers of Rylan Jones to Utah State and Pelle Larsson to Pac-12 foe Arizona. The Utes now have 2-3 spots to fill, something that will likely be a blend of players in the transfer portal and another late find like Holt.
