Marcus Williams is 2nd Round NFL Draft Pick
University of Utah
Press Release

PHILADELPHIA—Utah safety Marcus Williams was selected by New Orleans with the 10th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft’s second round. Williams, the 42nd overall selection, is the second Ute drafted in the first two days. Offensive tackle Garett Bolles went to Denver in the first round yesterday as the 20th overall pick. Both are undergraduates—Williams had one year of NCAA eligibility remaining, while Bolles had two years left on his clock.

Williams (6-1, 195), a two-time All-Pac-12 safety and first-team All-Pac-12 Academic honoree, started all three of his seasons at Utah. The free safety had 11 career interceptions and led the team with five picks in 2015 and 2016.

He is the 13th second round NFL draft pick in school history and joins six Ute second-rounders on current NFL rosters: safety Eric Weddle (Baltimore), cornerback Sean Smith (Oakland), offensive lineman Zane Beadles (San Francisco), linebacker Koa Misi (Miami), cornerback Eric Rowe (New England) and defensive end Nate Orchard (Cleveland).
