The University of Utah continued their recent recruiting roll, this time from the high school ranks, landing local standout Bear Tenney. The 6-foot-5 and 245-pound tight end from Lone Peak HS recently decommitted from Nebraska, after being recruited by the who’s who of college football.

Tenney had over 39 offers, but he only took one official visit to Nebraska before committing in April 2024.

Tenney will sign with Utah during the late signing period in February.

What Utah is Getting

The optics are really intriguing. Tenney’s size and athleticism creates an immediate opportunity for playing time if he can translate his skills quickly from the high school to the college level. The one question is, how much of his dominance in high school was him being so much bigger than the kids he was going up against? He has elite ball skills for a tight end that can go and make the catch in traffic. He can bounce off defenders and drag defenders for extra yards. Tenney is also a more than capable blocking tight end. He looks to be the total package. He could be an immediate contributor for Jason Beck, Devon Dampier, and Utah’s new look spread offense.

What this means for the class
Tenney is the second tight commit for Utah for the 2025 class, joining Drew Clemens. He joins 23 other Utah signees from the high school ranks.
