The University of Utah football program received a commitment on Tuesday night from a legacy prospect, four-star Corner Canyon HS quarterback Isaac Wilson. Isaac follows in his dad’s footsteps, former Utah defensive tackle Mike Wilson, as he made his commitment known on social media while he was surrounded family and friends.

He had a final six of Utah, BYU, UCLA, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, and Arizona.

The back-to-back Pac-12 champions offered Wilson back in early November during a weekend visit. He also recently visited during the spring game.

The 6-foot and 192 pound signal-caller is rated the no. 238 player overall for Rivals class of 2024 and he’s the no. 13 rated pro-style quarterback.

Isaac’s brother Zach, was offered late in the 2018 recruiting cycle by BYU, where he shined and later went on to be the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

What Utah is Getting

As good as Zach was at BYU, Isaac is a very good quarterback in his own right. The 2024 signal caller holds 18 offers, including Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Louisville, Miami (FL), Oklahoma State, Oregon State, UCLA, Utah State, and Washington State. He’s the No. 1 ranked recruit in the state of Utah by Rivals.

By all reports, Wilson is a student of the game and shows a high level of maturity. Wilson's film shows a quick decision maker, being able to read and process the defenses quickly. Of course, he will adjust to the speed of the college game, but he already shows a good knack for understanding coverages.

Despite being labeled a "pocket passer," similar to his older brother, Isaac has enough athleticism to extend plays and move around in the pocket.

It’s difficult to expect any quarterback to walk right into a college program and immediately play, but the opportunity is there for Wilson in 2024. Depending on his growth as a player over the next year and how quickly he adjusts to the college game, Wilson could be a factor for the Utes immediately.

What This Means For The Class

Wilson is the third commitment for the 2024 class and the first offensive player. He joins defensive tackle Isaia Faga, and safety Jeliani Davis. With the 2023 season being Cam Rising's final year at Utah, Wilson will join a quarterback room of Brandon Rose, Mack Howard, Nate Johnson, and Bryson Barnes. A collegiate quarterback room is the most fluid in football, but Wilson will be set to join a talented group — and a race that could be wide open.
