WHAT IT MEANS: Asiata Commits to Utah

The University of Utah football team received a commitment recently from a familiar last name, lineman Milz Asiata. The 6-foot-foot-5 and 330 pounder, who is no relation to former Utes Matt and Isaac, hails from Australia and recently moved to California to attend Aquinas HS in order to play football.

Asiata currently holds seven offers with Utah, Arizona, Oregon State, and Washington State among them. Utah was his first official visit and he announced his commitment to the Utes not long after it concluded.

What Utah is Getting

The massive Australian is raw but tantalizing. Even at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds, Asiata is surprisingly agile and athletic. He’s a road grader who is usually on film driving back or pancaking his opponent across from him.

Although he’s primarily an offensive lineman, Utah will watch closely how he develops once he’s on campus, because a defensive line that can move like him with his size is a scary thought for opponents.

With one year of football under his belt and the second one about to begin, Asiata will enter a program that will play him if his ready, but will likely prioritize his development early on before unleashing him.

What This Means for the Class

Asiata is the eleventh commitment for the 2025 class. He joins linebacker Cyrus Polu and athlete JJ Buchanan who committed after visiting on the same weekend. Plus offensive lineman Soren Shinofield, linebacker/edge rusher Max Fonoimoana, tight end Drew Clemens, linebacker Christian Thatcher, defensive lineman Karson Kaufusi, defensive tackle Sione Motuapuaka, quarterback Wyatt Becker, as well as defensive end Nela Tupou in the 2025 class.
