UteNation Countdown to Kickoff: No. 88 Dallin Bentley

With 88 days left until kickoff, everyone knows that Utah’s two starting tight ends Landen King and Brant Kuithe will be focal points of the offense. However, today we’re talking about No. 88 Dallin Bentley, who will be ready to break out once his number is called.

The 6-foot-4 and 258 pound sophomore played in six games in 2023 but didn’t record his first reception until the Las Vegas Bowl, as he was slowed by an early season injury.

Is everyone ready for three and four tight end sets? Utah tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham believes that Utah can run effective offensive sets with Bentley, King, Kuithe, and Carsen Ryan all on the field at the same time. Both King and Kuithe are the hybrid TE/WR combo, while Bentley and Ryan are true tight ends. A scenario like this isn’t just something Whittingham is dreaming up for his group, it’s something UteNation knows has been heavily talked about. Bentley was starting to be one of the breakout stars of spring ball, until he sat out the last week including the spring game.

It’s a loaded position group, but they’ll find ways to get Bentley on the field.

Remembering Bentley’s Recruitment

Bentley is a late bloomer who had a big growth spurt before his senior season at Taylorsville HS. Being a full-qualifier out of high school, Bentley received late interest last spring between Utah, New Mexico, San Diego State, Louisville, Colorado, and Washington. With Utah being the local school and one that has a great recent track record with their tight ends, it was an easy decision for Bentley to stay home.
