UteNation Countdown to Kickoff: No 79 Alex Harrison

We have 79 days until the 2024 Utah Football season begins, and today we discuss no. 79, Alex Harrison. The junior from Bountiful, UT saw action in 11 games on special teams and the offensive line.

The former three-time all-star selection has not seen much playing time since getting to campus, but cracking into some of the rotation last season could mean his progression is starting to really develop.

UteNation Take

Now entering his junior season, the most likely outlook for Harrison is as a depth piece to the offensive line. That’s not to say that he can’t suddenly realize his potential, but the playing time hasn’t been there and younger guys have taken full advantage of their opportunities. The 2024 season will be a crucial one for him as the majority of his playing time in his three seasons at Utah have been on special teams.

Same as last season, the question is if Harrison’s progression is ready for the next step and land him solidly in the two-deep for the offensive line.

Remembering Harrison’s Recruitment

A longtime Utah lean after growing up a lifelong fan, Harrison’s final five were Utah, USC, Oregon, Nebraska and Utah State. In the end, it was between the two Pac-12 South foes, Utah and USC, but there really never was any doubt or suspense in his recruitment. Utah had anticipated him as part of their class long before his December 12th commitment in the 2020 class.
