Arizona athlete weighing his options

After solid performances at the Arizona and Arizona State camps, TE/OL/DE prospect Cody Anderson is garnering interest from several Division I programs.

Anderson is looking to a big senior year to solidify his prospects. To stay in shape during the summer, Anderson maintains a strict training regimen, lifting five days a week, running three days a week, and playing basketball on Saturdays and Sundays. His hard work is paying off, as the versatile prospect's stock has been rising in recent months.

Due to his versatility, the 6-foot-6 250-pound athlete out of Apache Junction High School is being recruited to play both sides of the ball. "It's all spread out," he said. "Schools want me for different things. Wyoming wants me at tackle, U of A wants me at defensive end, Colorado and Colorado St. want me to play tight-end." Anderson has offers from a number of schools including UTEP, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Colorado St., New Mexico St., San Diego St., and Arizona.

According to Anderson, Arizona and Colorado are making the hardest push for his services. He also lists Utah, Colorado St., and San Diego St. among his favorites. Although he has many offers on the table, Anderson is in no rush to make a decision. "I will take all 5 visits and wait until the end of the season before making a decision," Anderson explained.

Academics will be a major factor to Anderson as he makes his decision. "I really want to get an education out of it," he stated. "I look at the graduation rate." Anderson plans on studying physical therapy, nutrition, and business management.

At 6-foot-6, Anderson also displays his talents on the basketball court as an all-state performer and one of Arizona's leading scorers. However, despite his status as a two sport star, he plans on focusing on football in college. When asked about his college basketball prospects, Anderson stated, "I definitely wouldn't turn it away. I've always liked basketball. Basketball is my passion, football is my dedication."
