Mt. Vernon Blows Out Lindenhurst; Leaves Early

Mt. Vernon came out against Lindenhurst in workmanlike fashion, on Thursday at the iS8/Nike, as if they were simply practicing for upcoming playoff action.

In addition to taking care of business against Lindenhurst by total obliterating them by almost 60 points. Mt. Vernon would also manage to win another game simultaneously. How you ask?

A 20-11 first quarter lead would quickly erupt into a 24 point lead with 4 minutes left in the half.

The only excitement would be miles away at Long Island University. The exciting question would be whether or not Westchester would win the Wheelchair Classic Championship as three of their star players, Kevin Jones, Sherrod Wright and Jordan Lessane were supposed to be playing but opted to play with the Mt. Vernon team at iS8.

The Lindenhurst team, on the other hand, would only show limited offense from Kamil Parzych

Wright and Jones would dominate and sophomore Jabarie Hinds would run the show for Mt. Vernon which would end the half up 40 points. Jones would outscore Lindenhurst by himself with 26 points at the half

Ketema Brooks played a strong game, mostly driving to the hole while his teammate Lessane would assault Lindenhurst with jumpers.

Kadeem Dinham displayed excellent rebound and outlet pass skills as the Mt. Vernon's lead grew to a ridiculous 50 points spread.

With 3:19 left in the third Jones and Lessane would leave early to try to participate in the Wheel Classic Championship game at LIU as this game was, for all intensive purposes, a done deal.

Joe Morales would score a jumper to finally end the Lindenhurst drought and Parzych would heat up a bit but it would be way to little and way too late as Coach Bob Cimmino would go on to win 114-56

Jones who was absent for most of the second half would be the high scorer for Mt. Vernon with 30 followed by Jabarie Hinds with 15 points. Parzych would be the leading scorer for Lindenhurst with 26.

Westchester would also go on to win the Wheelchair Classic 122-109 giving Mt. Vernon a 2-fer
